How this training will benefit the company:
Team members will gain valuable skills and coaching on communication and conflict management, which will allow them to work together collaboratively and efficiently. Effective communication and conflict management skills are essential to creating a highly productive team that works well together, with minimal supervision, freeing upper-level management to focus on other critical aspects of the project. The ability to communicate clearly, and to resolve conflicts in-the-moment provides a cost-benefit to you in terms of less time lost to miscommunication and dissent, and more time spent focusing on tasks necessary to complete the project.
The practical skills that team members will learn, practice, develop and utilize throughout the training will serve them in their professional and personal lives long after this training is completed. Team members will recognize and revise their own communication and conflict behaviors to fit individual situations, while gaining confidence in their ability to deal with others in a personal and productive way. Because the training is designed to identify and modify behaviors at an emotional level, rather than merely at a cognitive level, team members will be more likely to internalize and utilize their newly acquired skills with confidence in a wide variety of professional and personal situations. Although the training is taking place for this current project, team members will gain lifelong, real-world skills that will benefit them and the company during their tenure.
An indirect benefit of the training is that the company members not present at the training will have the opportunity to learn from team members as they use and model effective communication and conflict resolution skills, resulting in a more positive working environment overall.
How this training will benefit team members:
In a highly stressful project with tight deadlines and a variety of personalities, all working hard for a positive end result, conflict is inevitable. The way team members deal with their conflicts could have a great impact on how and when the project is completed—whether it is completed as promised, on time and on-budget—as well as the team’s ability to work together in the future. In order for members of the team to perform at their highest abilities, they must be able to communicate clearly and have the capacity to resolve conflicts quickly and productively so the project can move forward.
As a result of this training, team members will identify their own conflict style and learn to work with the various conflict styles of other team members. Team members will be able to demonstrate awareness of how they personally show up in conflict situations, as well as an understanding of how other team members see themselves in conflict situation. Team members may find that their usual approaches to dealing with conflict may have to be modified or completely changed in order for this project to be completed in the best possible way; this training will give them the skills, practice, and opportunities to synthesize this new understanding with their personalities and working styles. Throughout the training, team members will be encouraged and expected to reflect on how this training is applicable in their professional and personal lives, and how, when, and with whom they will be using their new skills.
During activities designed to initiate conflict, team members will demonstrate their ability to recognize and resolve their differences using techniques and skills taught throughout the training. Team members will practice, and be coached on, communicating clearly and effectively, and resolving real conflicts as they arise. Team members will be able to integrate the awareness and skills into their interactions with each other for the duration of the project. As a result of this training, team members will communicate with each other openly, honestly, efficiently and effectively. They will manage conflict productively, on their own, as it arises, allowing the project to continue at the desired pace toward its successful conclusion.
